Writing Events

I run many local writing events in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, along with a heap of online events and activities. It’s because I love writing so much! I help to run the Word Family and most of what I do happens under that banner. They are intended to be open to anyone who wants to drop in and have a go*.

For in-person meetup, come along to the Coffee Club at Milton (CCM). There's free parking available in the area and it's just up the road from the Milton train station. To find us inside, head down to the back of the restaurant and look for the forest of laptops. We'll have plenty of room for everyone, power available if you need to plug in, and lots of chance to chat and focus on writing! Bring headphones if you wish, to aid focus or simply get some quiet time. Whatever works for you is fine with us. We'll be running some writing sprints through the day. Bring your art or craft project of choice, and make some progress with company. How it Works This event is entirely online, so you don't need to move your project or equipment anywhere. You can do any kind of art or craft you like! (You can even write if you'd like.) We'll start off with a bit of a chat about what we're all working on and our craft of choice. It would be great if you could share a photo of your project with us! Then we'll have some focus time to get some work done. If you want to join the voice channel, feel free to share a video stream of your crafty progress! Look out for people who have their mics and headphones muted, as they can't hear any chatter, but they might be sharing a view of their work with us or viewing others' streams. In Discord, you can view multiple streams at once. At the end of the event, it would be lovely to have another photo of your project, so we can have before-and-after views! *Pictures and videos are entirely voluntary; please only share what you're comfortable with.
