My Writing

I write speculative fiction of varying types. Here’s a guide to what you can read right now:

The Apocalypse Blog

The blog from the end of the world

On 24 December 2008, a bomb detonated over Faith’s home city and her world ended. This is her blog of the year that follows, chronicling her struggle to survive and make sense of the broken remains left behind by the bomb, told in real-time.

She must battle through acid rain, sickness, and the descent of her own society. Then, the dead start shambling. Travelling with a small group of survivors, Faith has to find a way to live without losing all sight of who she is in a world ready to devour her.

Genre: post-apocalyptic fictional blog

The Apocalypse Blog was my first web serial, and is now complete. You can read the original version on the serial’s website, or pick up the edited and extended version in the ebook format of your choice.

My ebooks are available through all major ebook stores, various libraries, and subscription services (including Scribd and Oyster). If it sells ebooks, I try to be there! Here’s the list of the bookstores I’m currently available in:

The Apocalypse Blog Book 0: Before the End

The Apocalypse Blog Book 0: Before the End

This free prequel showcases Faith’s life before everything broke.

She’s a normal girl with a normal life, dealing with friends and ex-friends, trying to get over a betrayal, making mistakes, and thinking about the upcoming Christmas. This is the girl whose life is paused mid-step, who is barely ready to get out of bed each day, never mind for the sky to fall. She would never have imagined what the year after this book would bring.

The Apocalypse Blog Book 1: End of the Old

The Apocalypse Blog Book 1: End of the Old

A bomb shattered the sky and broke the world. Faith doesn’t know how or why; all she knows is that she has to get out from under it, or she’ll be buried along with everyone else.

These are the moments after the bomb went off, which stretch into days, and then weeks. Help comes at first, and then it stops. Everything stops.

Faith finds herself with a group of survivors, all of them crawling out of the rubble together. As their situation becomes both clearer and more dire, they must figure out where to go next. Just how much of the city is still standing? Is there any help left to find? Or is everything they used to know gone now?

Book 2: Rising

The Apocalypse Blog Book 2: Rising

The Apocalypse Blog Book 2: Rising

Walking through the bones of the world she used to know, Faith is struggling to come to terms with everything that has been lost. Society has crumbled as people clumped into gangs for survival. Strength rules the streets; the more brutal the better. Even the skies have turned against them, raining acid on a daily basis.

Faith and her group of Seekers want only one thing: to find out if their families have survived. Navigating around gang territory, hiding from the acid rain, and finding enough food to survive are constant struggles.

Then the sickness begins. It touches only a few of them, but none survive. It’s not long before they realise that death is not the sickness’s final stage: it is so much worse than that.

Book 3: Into the After

The Apocalypse Blog Book 3: Into the After

The Apocalypse Blog Book 3: Into the After

It has been eight months since the bombs went off and the world fell apart. There has been no sign of help coming from outside, nor any sign that anyone outside is any better off. Food supplies are reaching critical levels for the few who are left, and the dead still roam, hungry for any live meat they can find.

Today might be hard enough, but it’s time for Faith and her Seekers to turn their attention to more than just surviving today. It’s time to think about the future, and forging a new life in the bones of the old. A radio signal offers sanctuary, so the Seekers head off to find the source. But will it be hope or hoax? Is it possible to live in a poisoned land?

Starwalker

StarryThe ship’s log, as told by the ship

The Starwalker is a starship with an experimental star-stepping drive. Designed to use the gravity wells of stars to fold space, she can travel between star systems faster than FTL. That is, if they can get it to work.

She is run by a sophisticated AI who doesn’t always follow her programming. She has only just been born, and she has a lot to figure out. She is often torn between the needs of the crew and the demands of the scientists responsible for running the tests on the new drive. There are politics surrounding this new drive of hers that she has to get a grip on before they get a grip on her.

Most of all, she needs to track down and explain the glitches in her software before someone notices and wipes her memory drives. What she doesn’t know is that it wouldn’t be the first time.

Genre: (hard) science fiction fictional blog

This is my current web serial. It is still in progress, and the fourth book has just been completed. You can read it all on the Starwalker website. Don’t forget to start from the beginning!
